Job summary

GitLab Federal, LLC is seeking a Support Engineer to join our U.S. Government Support Engineering team, enabling public sector organizations to run GitLab securely in restricted environments.

You will work remotely with cross-functional teams to diagnose issues, analyze logs, and improve documentation and tooling for self-service support. The role requires strong Linux administration, experience with CI/CD, and familiarity with gov’t security standards; US citizenship is required for

Qualifications

• Experience managing customer-facing cases across the full support lifecycle.
• Ability to troubleshoot in highly secure, constrained environments.
• Strong Linux system administration and command-line skills.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM-powered tooling and gateway architectures.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with public sector customers and U.S. government agencies to diagnose and resolve complex GitLab deployments under strict security and compliance constraints.
• Perform deep investigations using Linux CLI and GitLab internals to analyze logs and performance.
• Create and update clear support content from real customer interactions to improve self-service.
• Participate in pairing sessions and share knowledge to improve support processes.
• Contribute to internal tools and workflows to automate troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Support on-call rotations for self-managed, regulated environments.
