Job summary

Rivet is hiring a backend engineer to own Go-based modules end to end in a fully distributed, remote team. You will design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, manage background jobs, and ensure scalable, correct results for tax-related workflows.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years building backend systems with Go, understand asynchronous architectures, and can communicate clearly across teams in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building backend systems and 2+ years writing Go in production.
• Real Postgres depth: schema design and migrations on live data.
• Experience with asynchronous systems: queues, retries, failures.
• Bias toward correctness and clear communication in a fast-changing startup.
• Comfort operating in a fully distributed, remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Own backend modules end to end from schema through production.
• Automate systems and integrate with a desktop/tax platform used by clients.
• Put AI on the critical path, evaluating models against production workflows.
• Own what you ship in production: tracing, alerts, on-call duty.
• Collaborate directly with preparers and clients via modern tooling.
