Job summary

Talentify is looking for a GIS Technician to support electric distribution operations by collecting, inputting, and maintaining geospatial data in an ESRI GIS environment. You will create and update maps, perform quality audits, and collaborate with engineering and field teams to ensure accurate grid representations.

Training occurs onsite, followed by primarily remote work with optional onsite activities in Birmingham, AL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a similar field, or a GIS Certificate, or at least 2 years GIS work experience is required.
• Competency with Microsoft Office is required.
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software is required, including creating, editing, and managing geospatial data.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment is required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, mapping, and documentation.
• Ability to interpret, analyze, and reconcile geospatial data from multiple sources.
• Effective communication skills with engineering, operations, and field personnel.

Responsibilities

• Collect, input, and maintain geospatial data for electric distribution assets in an ESRI GIS database.
• Produce and update maps and schematics to support engineering and operations.
• Perform regular GIS data audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with field personnel to integrate GPS data into the GIS database.
• Provide GIS analysis and mapping support for planning, outages, and reliability studies.
• Use ESRI ArcGIS and ArcGIS Pro to manage spatial data layers and attributes.
• Document work and prepare reports using Microsoft Office.
