Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a GIS Specialist II for a remote, service-territories-based role. The position focuses on GIS data preparation, mapping, and maintenance of utility infrastructure, with emphasis on accuracy and integration with asset management systems.

The candidate will perform data creation, migration, and QA, while supporting metadata development and archival processes. A strong foundation in ArcGIS Enterprise and MS Office is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a GIS role
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise and ability to edit/update mapping system
• Familiar with drafting, surveying and electronic mapping tools
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, prepare, and process GIS information for Chesapeake Utilities.
• Map production and editing of digital utility infrastructure data and GIS layers.
• Ensure accurate records of the gas distribution system and support replacement programs.
• Create, convert, translate, migrate, and import GIS data from various sources.
• Edit, perform quality control, and analyze digital map data.
• Integrate other asset management programs into the GIS.
• Develop QA procedures, standards, and protocols.
• Archive digital media and related source materials.
• Maintain metadata files and related data.
• Communicate production-related concerns to the supervisor.
• Update and correct digital base map data for geospatial apps.
• Apply advanced GIS principles in all efforts.
• Adhere to Quality Control protocols.
