Job summary
ABB is seeking a Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning of GIS and RMU systems across complex customer projects. You will develop work plans, estimates, and methods of procedure while guiding field teams and interfacing with customers and utilities.
The role emphasizes site leadership, rigorous technical standards, and travel across the US. Experience with ABB ZX GIS, RMU, and protection platforms is required, with a strong writing and documentation skillset.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years in commissioning and field engineering.
- Strong experience with ABB GIS and RMU systems.
- Knowledge of ABB Protection & Control platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning of ABB GIS and RMU systems to standards and IEEE/IEC/ANSI requirements.
- Create commissioning work plans, cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and MOPs.
- Support execution through energization and customer acceptance.
- Interface with customers, EPCs, utilities, and ABB teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and travel up to 40-50%.
