Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Gift Planning Officer to support our Tennessee and Mississippi/Alabama Regions. This is a work-from-home role and can be located anywhere within the regions.

You will develop and implement gift planning programs, cultivate donors, and maximize bequests and gifts. Reporting to the Director of Gift Planning, you will design strategies, grow the Legacy Society, and provide training to staff while staying current on industry trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience is required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum five years in major gift or gift planning fundraising with cultivation and solicitation experience.
• Knowledge of planned giving vehicles and fundraising principles in large organizations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation and negotiation.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; tact and diplomacy required.
• Familiarity with Red Cross culture; willingness to travel 20%-30%.
• Valid driver's license and own transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages gift planning strategy for a regional prospect portfolio.
• Lead and implement strategies to grow Legacy Society membership.
• Maintain stewardship program for all planned giving donors.
• Deliver training on gift planning to staff and partners.
• Stay current on gift planning trends and fundraising techniques.
• Provide technical assistance to increase fundraising capacity.
• Coordinate with financial and estate planning groups to maximize bequests and gifts.
• Support reporting of estate documents to General Counsel.
• Regularly report donor activity to the Director of Gift Planning.
