Job summary

The American Red Cross seeks a Gift Planning Officer to support our Tennessee and Mississippi/Alabama Regions. This is a work-from-home opportunity and can be located anywhere within the regions.

Reporting to the Director of Gift Planning, you will design and implement gift planning programs, cultivate donors, and maximize fundraising capacity. Expect travel 20-30% and collaboration with estate planning professionals.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation, negotiation, and strong interpersonal skills are required.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience is required and an advanced degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of the technical aspects of planned giving vehicles and fundraising principles in a large organization is desired.

Responsibilities

• Develops the gift planning strategy for a portfolio of prospects across the Regions to support Red Cross programs and services.
• Develop, lead, and implement strategies to substantially grow membership of the Legacy Society.
• Maintain and enhance a stewardship program for all planned giving donors and raise the profile of the Legacy Society.
• Deliver training on gift planning to advance knowledge and opportunities in gift conversations and strategy development.
• Coordinate with local financial and estate planning associations to maximize the Red Cross position for bequests, trusts, and life income arrangements.
