Job summary

Indiana University seeks a Principal Accountant, Gift and Grant Accounting to ensure gifts and grants transact in accordance with GAAP, GASB, and university policy. This role is the primary liaison between IU Foundation and the Office of Research Administration.

You will develop accounting standards, maintain narratives, coordinate documentation, and prepare journal entries for year-end audits while driving process improvements across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required.
• Education beyond minimum may substitute for work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Verifies gift and grant transactions for GAAP and GASB compliance.
• Serves as liaison between IU Foundation and Office of Research Administration.
• Develops process narratives and accounting standards for gifts and grants.
• Coordinates with foundations and administration for supporting documents.
• Prepares journal entries and work papers for year-end audit.
• Leads projects to improve processes, compliance, and efficiency.
