Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or equivalent education/experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Licensure in NH within 14 days; CGC or CGC-ABMGG certification within 1095 days; ABMGG certification if certified before 1991.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate genetic consultations for individuals and families.
• Triaging referrals, calls, and inpatient consults.
• Take and evaluate histories to assess genetic risk for patients and families.
• Explain features, diagnosis, and management of genetic conditions to patients and families.
• Coordinate genetic tests and other diagnostics for assessment.
• Explain implications of test results to patients and families.
• Integrate lab results with histories to assess risk factors.
• Counsel patients/families on their responses to genetic information.
• Document calls and notes in the EMR for families.
• Teach residents and students; supervise counseling students.
• Assist with data entry and department database maintenance.
• Participate in research and protocol development.
