Job summary
Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Power Systems Engineer to support generator control switchgear projects.
You will design, program, test, and commission automation solutions for complex power systems, collaborating with dealers, factories, and customers. Responsibilities include retrofit opportunity definition, converting legacy PLC programs, developing PLC/HMI applications, and producing wiring drawings.
Qualifications
- Experience in automation and controls for power systems.
- Proficient building PLC/HMI applications and debugging.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer/Factory teams.
- Design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator control systems.
- Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
- Develop PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
- Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
- Perform risk assessments and support field performance of projects.
- Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses in a timely manner.
- Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and system operation.
