Job summary

Sedgwick is seeking a General Adjuster to investigate claims against insurance or other companies for personal, casualty, or property loss; negotiates settlements and may refer to litigation. This telecommuter role is based in New Jersey and supports customers across jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree, 5 years of related experience, and professional designations; must hold an adjuster license.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred and IIA-AIC designation pursued.
Must have earned the IIA-AIC designation and be actively pursuing another professional insurance designation.
Appropriate state adjuster license is required.
Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Investigates complex losses locally up to designated authority; assists on larger losses.
Examines claim forms to determine insurance coverage.
Interview, telephones, or correspond with claimants and witnesses.
Inspects property damage to determine liability and methods of investigation.
Estimates cost of repair, replacement, or compensation.
Prepares findings and negotiates settlement with claimant.
Recommends litigation when settlement cannot be reached.
Attends litigation hearings.
Revises case reserves for probable costs.
Assists in loss experience reporting to help determine profitability.
