Job summary

Nelnet is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to act as the technical bridge between our GenAI delivery team and higher education/SLED clients. You will translate requirements into scoped backlogs and ensure solutions meet real institutional needs, working closely with the Engagement Manager.

Responsibilities include leading discovery, building the delivery backlog, and surfacing compliance risks. This remote, full-time role leverages Google Cloud and Gemini platforms to drive enterprise AI

Qualifications

Hands-on experience scoping and delivering GenAI/agentic AI solutions for enterprise or institutional clients.
Direct experience with the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform components is strongly preferred; other GenAI delivery experience on AWS/Azure will be considered for ramp-up.

Responsibilities

Lead technical discovery with client stakeholders to translate pain points into scoped, deliverable use cases on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.
Build and maintain the delivery backlog, converting client requirements into sequenced work for engineering.
Identify and surface technical and data compliance requirements early in the design process (FERPA, state privacy, accessibility).
Provide domain expertise from higher education or SLED to advise on achievable AI adoption paths.
Collaborate with engineers and the Engagement Manager to ensure delivery plans are technically sound and aligned with contract commitments.
