UnitedHealth Group's UnitedHealthcare division seeks an Accounting Consultant to drive day-to-day GAAP accounting, journal entries, month-end close, and financial reporting with accuracy and strong controls.

The role supports a fast-paced environment, partners with finance and business leaders, and offers flexible remote work across the U.S. While the Minnetonka/ Minneapolis area is preferred, exceptions are possible with four days per week in the office for local hires.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of accounting including month-end close and journal entries.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and general ledger concepts.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials/Hyperion/BlackLine is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted accounting partner to business leaders and finance teams.
• Lead monthly closing activities with full P&L and balance sheet ownership.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries per GAAP.
• Perform reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues.
• Analyze results and prepare variance commentary for reports.
• Support close and financial reporting with schedules and statements.
