Job summary

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Safety Controls Engineer/Functional Safety Consultant to identify and measure risks on industrial machinery. You will engineer, verify, and validate safety solutions to protect workers and report to the Manager, Safety Services.

This role is fully remote, work anywhere in the United States, with 50% travel. Responsibilities include risk assessments, lockout/tagout audits, safety system engineering, and leading customer meetings as a SME.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
• Ability to travel 50% of the time.
• Certification (TUV Functional Safety Engineer or equivalent) is a plus.
• 5+ years of industrial controls or machine safety experience.
• Experience with OSHA and industrial safety standards (ISO, ANSI, etc.).
• Knowledge of Safety Lifecycle and ability to perform safety assessments.
• Familiarity with ISO 13849, ISO 12100, ANSI B11, ANSI Z244.1, NFPA 79, NFPA 70E, OSHA CFR 1910.147 and CFR 1910 subpart O.
• Experience in industrial controls design or troubleshooting.
• Experience in managing projects.

Responsibilities

• Interact face-to-face or virtually with customers to understand machine hazards.
• Develop and deliver core safety offerings per industry standards.
• Perform Lockout Tagout audits and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments and safety requirement specifications.
• Design and verify safety systems; lead safety validations.
• Lead customer meetings as a subject matter expert.
• Ensure milestones are met within scope and budget.
• Travel as required, generally Monday–Friday.
