Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory invites applications for a Full Stack, Python-focused Software Engineer to join the ESnet Orchestration and Core Data team. This role supports the design, development, operation, and maintenance of mission-critical software solutions for network management and deployment automation.

You will build and maintain backend/frontend components, ensure reliability and security, and mentor teammates while collaborating with stakeholders throughout the product

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with substantial software engineering experience.
• Experience building scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Strong knowledge of Python web frameworks and data models.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and maintain backend/frontend components for network orchestration and web apps.
• Ensure production systems are reliable, scalable, and secure.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and support users through the product lifecycle.
• Design accessible, high-performance web interfaces using UX/UI best practices.
• Mentor teammates and coordinate assignments within the team.
• Contribute to automation, orchestration, and network operations solutions.
