Job summary

DataKind is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to build and evolve the UI and API layer of our education data platform. This role involves turning complex educational data into usable, reliable software while advancing equity through data.

Reporting to the VP of Technology, you will collaborate with Data Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Customer Success to ship features that impact student outcomes. This is a fully remote US-based position.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of professional full stack software engineering experience with ownership of frontend and backend systems.
• Proficiency in GCP, Python and SQL for data pipelines and infra.
• Experience designing RESTful or GraphQL APIs and automated tests.
• Strong data modeling skills and collaboration across teams.
• Excellent communication to explain tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain web UI and APIs powering the data platform.
• Translate requirements into clean, maintainable, tested code.
• Own features end-to-end from design to deployment.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Customer Success.
• Contribute to frontend architecture and API design standards.
