Public Lab in the United States is seeking a part-time Full Stack Developer (20 hours/week) to maintain and enhance Public Lab websites from a remote location, with options to work from Brooklyn or New Orleans. Start date: Early January 2020.

You will lead project-based improvements, manage tasks with community contributions and coding, and help grow the code contributor community while aligning with nonprofit policies and our Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

• Experience with diversity & inclusion in code communities and onboarding.
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and JavaScript; use of GitHub/git.
• Strong UI, cross-browser compatibility, and web standards.
• Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• UI/UX/web design and facilitation.
• Community-oriented project management using GitHub.

Responsabilités

• Lead long-term planning and prioritization of projects to ensure healthy web presence, infrastructure, and community.
• Lead iterative improvements to the PublicLab.org site, including bugfixes, UI designs and updates, and stability improvements.
• Develop project plans with staff input and manage implementation via community contributions and direct coding.
• Work with Code Community Coordinators to grow the code contributor community.
• Facilitate UI/UX design and gather community input during planning.
• Maintain and upgrade core services, dependencies, and infrastructure of the codebase.
• Manage contract relationships and work with the systems administrator.
• Adhere to nonprofit policies, Public Lab values, and the Code of Conduct.
