Job summary

Wingard Marketing and Communications is seeking a versatile Freelance Web Designer/Developer who can take concepts through launch. The ideal candidate combines strong Figma visuals with hands-on WordPress development in Elementor, and understands HTML, CSS, and basic PHP.

Remote work available to U.S.-based candidates. This project-based contract role requires resourcefulness, strong design sense, and the ability to collaborate with Wingard's teams while delivering polished Elementor builds.

Qualifications

• Portfolio showing both Figma design and completed WordPress sites with live Elementor examples.
• Experience designing responsive sites with strong typography, hierarchy, spacing and usability.
• Hands-on WordPress development with Elementor and Elementor Pro.
• Basic understanding of WordPress architecture, themes, child themes and plugins.
• Strong problem solving, attention to detail, and time management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design websites in Figma based on client goals, brand standards, content and sitemaps.
• Create wireframes, high-fidelity designs, reusable components and responsive layouts.
• Build WordPress sites in Elementor, translating designs across desktop/tablet/mobile.
• Develop flexible page templates and reusable Elementor components.
• Apply HTML/CSS to refine layouts beyond standard Elementor controls.
• Navigate WordPress themes, child themes, plugins, and core file structures safely.
• Manage plugins, forms, redirects, SEO, caching and Advanced Custom Fields when applicable.
• Maintain existing sites with design updates, content changes and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with web, design, content and account teams to align with scope and schedule.
• Communicate progress, questions, risks and recommendations; manage deadlines independently.
