Job summary

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) is seeking a dynamic Senior Financial Analyst within the FP&A function to drive planning, reporting and analysis across the organization. This remote role supports enterprise reporting, budgeting, forecasting and data management using tools like Excel and Anaplan.

You will partner with cross‑functional teams including Treasury, Accounting and Operations to deliver timely insights, improve automation, and provide actionable recommendations to executives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis techniques, with experience using Excel, Anaplan, or similar software.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Enterprise Reporting: Prepare and distribute accurate and timely financial reports and dashboards for executives.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct variance, trend, and profitability analysis to support decision-making.
• Planning: Lead the development and maintenance of annual budgets and forecasts.
• Data Management: Maintain and update financial models and databases; utilize Anaplan to streamline processes.
• Financial Performance Tracking: Monitor KPIs and provide recommendations.
• Ad Hoc Analysis: Respond to management requests with actionable insights.
• Collaboration: Work with cross‑functional teams to align on timelines and deliverables.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive automation of monthly reporting and analytics.
