Job summary

GitLab seeks a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer focused on AI and Agentic SDLC to shape the Duo Agent Platform. You will collaborate with customers, Product, and Engineering to design agent workflows, build integrations, and optimize system behavior across the platform.

You will bring deep AI engineering expertise, strong Python/TypeScript/Go/Rust skills, and the ability to lead technically while working with customers and cross-team partners.

Qualifications

• Staff-level software engineering experience building and shipping complex production systems.
• Hands-on experience designing and building substantive AI systems with traceable behavior.
• Strong understanding of agentic systems using models, context, retrieval, tools, state, and oversight.
• Experience with one or more AI engineering areas such as agent systems, context/knowledge systems, or AI developer tools.
• Ability to learn across large polyglot codebases and communicate with customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agentic systems with models, context, and orchestration.
• Develop context and knowledge systems using retrieval-based approaches.
• Work with customers to turn needs into working AI-enabled solutions.
• Build agent workflows, integrations, and evaluation suites.
• Contribute production-quality changes across GitLab Duo Agent Platform.
• Evaluate system quality, latency, cost, safety, and governance.
• Provide leadership through architecture, reviews, and mentorship.
