Job summary

TribalScale Inc. is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with client and internal teams, designing AI-enabled applications and agentic workflows at the intersection of software, AI, and delivery. You will translate business needs into working products while guiding technology decisions in production environments.

You will collaborate across engineering, product, security, and data teams, delivering measurable impact and secure, scalable solutions for complex client challenges.

Qualifications

• Production-grade software experience, including AI-powered or agentic systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar languages for AI apps and tooling.
• Harness engineering: infrastructure, context, tools, permissions, and controls.
• Experience with agent loops: planning, tool selection, execution, observation, and termination.
• Familiarity with graph-based orchestration, state machines, and multi-step workflows.
• Experience designing evaluation systems for AI apps and production monitoring.
• Understanding trade-offs in prompts, context management, memory, and model routing.
• Ability to instrument AI systems to trace decisions and diagnose failures.
• Knowledge of APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and modern SDLC.
• Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems and domains, moving from discovery to production.
• Strong product judgment balancing capability, reliability, latency, cost, security, and UX.
• Experience collaborating with customers and stakeholders; excellent communication.
• Comfort in fast-moving environments; strong ownership, curiosity, and bias toward action.
• Ability to travel occasionally for client workshops or on-site delivery.

Responsibilities

• Partner with clients to understand objectives, workflows, environments, data, and constraints.
• Translate challenges into clear technical requirements, architectures, prototypes, and plans.
• Design and build AI-enabled applications, agentic workflows, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Engineer harnesses around AI models: prompts, tools, context, memory, and controls.
• Build and refine agent loops supporting planning, tool selection, execution, and observation.
• Model workflows as graphs or state machines coordinating models, tools, data, and approvals.
• Create evaluation frameworks measuring task completion, reliability, latency, and value.
• Develop rapid prototypes and evolve ideas into secure, scalable products.
• Integrate solutions with client systems, enterprise data, cloud platforms, and services.
• Work across UI, backend, AI infra, data workflows, and deployment pipelines.
• Implement safeguards and fallbacks for autonomous systems; ensure observability.
• Instrument AI apps for traces, intermediate states, and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex issues in client environments; communicate risks clearly.
• Capture reusable patterns and patterns for future TribalScale engagements.
• Support discovery, demonstrations, workshops, and pre-sales when needed.
