Qualifications

• Active CPC (AAPC) certification required.
• 3–5 years of medical coding experience including NYS/NJ WC and No-Fault billing.
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS; DRGs familiarity.
• Experience drafting affidavits/affirmations for arbitration or litigation.
• Ability to work independently under deadlines and maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Authorized to work legally in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Review bills to determine compliance with NYS/NJ Workers' Compensation and No-Fault Fee Schedules.
• Analyze complex documentation to determine stabilization points in diverse cases.
• Audit billed services using industry databases and identify discrepancies.
• Prepare counter-affidavits or cost reports reflecting UCR values for legal support.
• Collaborate with internal teams and providers to negotiate bills outside fee schedules.
• Communicate findings clearly in legally sound language for court submissions.
• Testify or be deposed as an expert when required; maintain confidentiality.
• Stay updated on coding regulations, insurance requirements, and legal standards.
