Job summary

Keystone Experts & Engineers seeks licensed Civil and Structural Engineers (PE) for forensic investigations to determine causes and origins of site issues, including design and construction defects and weather-related damage.

This is a fully remote, part-time, 1099 contracted role. The ideal candidate will perform site evaluations, document findings, and provide remediation recommendations for insurance claims or litigation, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Active PE license is required.
• Degree in civil or structural engineering or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of building materials, codes, construction methods and failure modes.
• Ability to access roof, attic and crawl spaces.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and respond quickly to assignments.
• Experience performing forensic investigations and evaluating structural failures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic investigations to determine causes and contributing factors.
• Evaluate damage from natural and weather-related events (earthquakes, hurricanes, wind, hail, floods).
• Document conditions with photos and prepare findings/recommendations for claims or litigation.
• Ensure proper maintenance and construction of affected building components and systems.
