You will own the architecture and technical direction of systems powering fiat on- and off-ramps for individuals and institutions, ensuring reliability, scalability, and correctness as Coinbase expands globally. You will lead multi-year strategies, build fault-tolerant, high-volume infrastructure, and mentor engineers across teams to raise the technical bar.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience building payment systems or high-volume transactional platforms.
• Architecting fault-tolerant distributed systems at scale.
• Ownership of production reliability and incident response.
• Ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year technical strategy and architecture for the Payments platform.
• Build and evolve distributed systems for high-volume payment traffic with defined SLOs.
• Drive engineering quality through shared frameworks and coding standards.
• Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Lead scaling and reliability initiatives and drive improvements via postmortems.
• Mentor teams through design reviews and architectural guidance.
