Engineering Economics, Inc. (EEI) is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Specialist to lead commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of mechanical systems in data centers and high‑reliability facilities.

The role focuses on guiding field execution, functional performance testing, and issue resolution while mentoring junior staff. This position involves up to 75% travel, a hybrid office/field work arrangement, and requires US work authorization.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in mechanical systems, commissioning, facilities operations, engineering, construction, maintenance, or related field.
• Advanced working knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, cooling infrastructure, controls, and related mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, and test results.
• Advanced understanding of MEP systems, controls, and integrated building operations.
• Ability to lead commissioning activities, guide field execution, and accelerate complex issues.
• Strong troubleshooting, quality assurance, communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and commissioning documentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex commissioning, testing, and verification activities for mechanical systems in mission-critical facilities.
• Guide field execution, functional performance testing, startup support, and closeout activities across mechanical scopes.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and drive resolution with project teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Review drawings, specifications, trend data, and test results to evaluate readiness and performance.
• Communicate commissioning status, risks, findings, and recommendations to clients and project teams.
• Mentor Mechanical Specialists and support personnel through field coaching and documentation reviews.
• Contribute to safe, reliable delivery in fast-paced mission-critical environments.
