Job summary

Coinbase is building the future of institutional trading with a real-time, cross-asset risk engine that serves Retail, Prime, and wholesale clients. As a Risk Architect, you will own the design, implementation, and operation of systems processing billions of dollars daily.

You’ll mentor engineers, drive SLOs and observability, and partner with Product, Trading, and Compliance to translate technical vision into a practical roadmap.

Qualifications

• Hands-on architect with ownership of real-time risk systems.
• Experience building cross-asset risk or margin engines.
• Strong background in low-latency, high-throughput backend systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of the real-time, cross-asset risk and margin engine.
• Design low-latency, high-throughput risk systems.
• Drive reliability, observability, and incident response for risk-critical systems.
• Set technical standards and reduce critical debt.
• Mentor engineers and reduce single points of failure.
• Collaborate with Product, Trading, Finance, Security, and Compliance.
