Job summary

Helius seeks a hands-on Platform leader to own the bare metal fleet, deployment pipelines, observability, reliability, and engineering security. Reporting to the Co-founder/Head of Engineering, you’ll build and lead the team that powers everything we ship, ensuring reliability at scale and blameless postmortems.

This is a hands-on lead role where you set direction, ship critical foundations, and stay close enough to systems to make hard technical calls. No crypto background required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in infrastructure, SRE, or platform engineering, including time as a tech lead or engineering manager.
• Experience running production infrastructure at scale, with bare metal expertise.
• Proven ability to build and mature SRE practices (SLOs, incident mgmt, postmortems).
• Strong observability depth: metrics, logs, tracing, and stack migrations.
• Solid security fundamentals across access control, secrets, and infrastructure hardening.
• Strong Linux, networking, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Clear written communication suited for remote, async teams.

Responsibilities

• Set the Platform roadmap and own outcomes across bare metal, builds, deployments, observability, SRE, security, and node ops.
• Build the SRE practice with SLOs, incident command, on-call health, postmortems, and automation.
• Lead observability overhaul: migrate Datadog to ClickHouse and Grafana for better visibility.
• Standardize software build/deploy to machines for fast, safe, consistent shipping.
• Partner with security to plan and execute the engineering security roadmap.
• Drive fleet strategy: capacity planning, provider relationships, cost analysis.
• Hire, mentor, and grow Platform engineers in a remote, async-heavy environment.
• Collaborate with Data Streaming, Historical APIs, Gatekeeper teams to accelerate platforms.
