Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a software engineer for the Blockchain Data Platform team to build and operate real-time blockchain data ingestion and indexing services. You will own end-to-end delivery from design through production, introducing new chain integrations and backfills while optimizing latency and cost.

You will collaborate with product teams to define data contracts and contribute to SDKs, applying strong systems design and leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience building and operating distributed or data systems.
• Strong systems design fundamentals including partitioning and consistency/availability tradeoffs.
• Proficiency in a backend language such as Go and/or Python, with familiarity across technologies like Kafka, gRPC, Redis, S3, ClickHouse, or MongoDB.
• Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear designs and shipped solutions with measurable impact.
• Blockchain or crypto data experience is a plus, including data structures, finality, RPC nodes, or wallets.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate distributed systems for real-time blockchain data ingestion, indexing, and query, owning services end-to-end from design docs to production.
• Own delivery of key initiatives such as new chain integrations, migrations, and backfills, driving improvements to latency, reliability, and cost.
• Partner with product and platform teams to define data contracts and contribute to SDKs and primitives that drive adoption.
• Execute architecture and performance improvements across the indexing stack, applying systems design fundamentals around partitioning, consistency, stream processing, and storage boundaries.
• Support engineering quality across the team through code reviews, testing rigor, and leveraging AI tools to ship faster.
