Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Software Engineer to join the CB Node team within the Platform organization. This team runs all the blockchain nodes powering Coinbase assets, spanning 55 protocols.

You will contribute to performance optimization, reliability, and observability across the blockchain platform stack. You will own performance analysis, build health-checks and failover, size the node fleet, collaborate with protocol teams, and help define SLOs/SLIs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering with production performance experience.
• Experience operating distributed systems and diagnosing bottlenecks.
• Proficiency in Go backend development and observability tooling.
• Demonstrated ability to improve infrastructure efficiency through optimization.
• Experience with blockchain/node infrastructure is a plus.
• Responsible use of AI to improve workflow efficiency and cost quality.

Responsibilities

• Own performance analysis and optimization across the blockchain node stack to reduce infrastructure spend while maintaining reliability SLOs.
• Build observability, health-checks, and automated failover capabilities for blockchain nodes.
• Execute right-sizing across the node fleet, profiling workloads and balancing cost with reliability.
• Collaborate with protocol integration engineers, wallet teams, and indexer teams to extend performance improvements.
• Support the definition and implementation of SLOs and SLIs for node services.
• Assist protocol upgrades and node operations, validating versions for efficiency and regression testing.
