Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer to join the CB Node team within the Platform organization. This role focuses on performance optimization and reliability of the blockchain node stack that powers 55+ protocols including Ethereum and Bitcoin.

You will collaborate with protocol integration engineers, wallet teams, and indexers to extend performance improvements, set SLOs/SLIs, and validate upgrades with a performance-first approach. Remote-first with quarterly in-person surges.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering with systems-level performance experience.
• Experience operating distributed systems and diagnosing bottlenecks.
• Backend development with Go and profiling/observability tooling.
• Ability to improve infra efficiency through optimization.
• Familiarity with blockchain nodes or crypto infra is a plus.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own performance analysis and optimization across the node stack.
• Build observability, health checks, and automated failover.
• Right-size node fleet and contribute to capacity models.
• Partner with protocol integration, wallet, and indexer teams.
• Define and implement SLOs/SLIs for node services.
• Support protocol upgrades with a performance-first lens.
