Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a backend engineer to help power the Money Movement infrastructure. You will design and build backend systems for stablecoin-based pay-ins, payouts, deposits, and withdrawals, delivering secure, scalable transfers across the Coinbase ecosystem.

With 2+ years in fintech/backend, you will work in a remote-first environment with quarterly in-person surges, while collaborating with product, design, infra and compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of backend engineering experience in fintech/payments/crypto.
• Proficiency in Go and/or Java with cloud infra (AWS/GCP).
• Experience designing distributed systems and APIs.
• DRI for technical projects delivering end-to-end solutions.
• Experience with blockchain/crypto tech such as stablecoins or on-chain payments.
• Ability to write technical design docs and communicate trade-offs.
• Uses AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own key money-movement projects end-to-end as DRI from design to production.
• Build backend systems and APIs enabling stablecoin payments.
• Collaborate with product, design, infra and compliance for robust solutions.
• Improve performance, scalability and reliability of distributed systems.
• Contribute to engineering quality through reviews and best practices.
