Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a backend engineer to own key projects end-to-end in the Money Movement space, designing and building backend systems, APIs, and infrastructure to enable stablecoin-based payments, payouts, deposits, and withdrawals with strong reliability and security.

You will collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs, while advancing performance and scalability across distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of backend software engineering in fintech, payments, or crypto.
• Proficiency in Go and Java; cloud platforms AWS/GCP.
• Experience as DRI for end-to-end delivery from design to production.
• Experience with blockchain/crypto technologies such as stablecoins, on-chain payments, or smart contracts.
• Ability to write technical design documents and communicate architecture trade-offs.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own key projects end-to-end as DRI, delivering stablecoin-based money movement features from design through deployment.
• Build backend systems, APIs, and infrastructure enabling embedded stablecoin payments.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure, and Compliance to balance speed, security, and regulatory needs.
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed systems and drive fixes before affecting customers.
• Support engineering quality through code reviews and architectural best practices.
