Job summary

DrFirst is seeking an Application Engineer - Database to provide advanced technical support, diagnose complex issues, and partner with Development and Product teams to address root causes. This remote-friendly role focuses on production data integrity, automation, and cross-team collaboration.

You will work on escalation management, SQL/database queries, and Python scripting to improve processes and reduce incident volume, while supporting healthcare IT operations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred.
• Expert knowledge of relational databases (Oracle/PostgreSQL) and strong SQL.
• Proficiency in Python and scripting for automation, data analysis, and process improvement.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, monitoring tools, and incident management workflows.
• 2+ years of professional Tier 1/2 experience.
• Desire to provide extraordinary customer support for internal and external clients.
• Excellent analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Triage cases escalated from Tier 2 and other teams to determine root cause.
• Manage all cases in accordance with documented service level agreements for each customer.
• Resolve issues of varying complexity by querying production and CERT databases, reproducing issues in appropriate environments, and partnering with technical teams to resolve them.
• Contribute to ongoing process improvement within the Operations Team and reduce ticket escalations.
• Drive automation and tooling through Python scripts and related utilities.
• Identify enhancements and incidents within DrFirst products and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Development and Product teams to recreate issues in test/beta environments with environment details.
• Monitor and maintain databases handling data ingestion from multiple sources and ensure data accuracy.
