UTHealth Houston is seeking a Financial Clearance Specialist III (Remote) to join the Revenue Cycle team. The role involves advanced insurance verification, securing prior authorizations, and coordinating referrals from external hospitals to UTHealth physicians.

The position operates in a high-volume call center environment and requires ensuring timely and accurate financial clearance for patient services while aligning with payer guidelines and institutional standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance authorization or healthcare financial clearance.
• Experience mentoring or training staff is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage for referred patients and document accurately in Epic.
• Coordinate referrals from external hospitals to UTHealth physicians.
• Communicate with patients regarding insurance status and financial responsibilities.
• Provide cost estimates and guide patients through scheduling with the referred doctor.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and institutional policies.
