Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is seeking a Financial Aid Specialist to support students from application to award. You will advise families on eligibility, document requirements, and timelines, using Salesforce for outreach and appointment scheduling while handling high-volume workloads.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Experience communicating with students, customers, or the public in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office, and financial aid platforms.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
• Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs.
• Ability to explain policies and regulations clearly.
• Experience supporting diverse student populations.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Determine student eligibility for FAFSA and award funds.
• Award and track G3 funding per state guidelines.
• Serve as SCO for VA education benefits.
• Process FAFSA, awarding, SAP; maintain FERPA compliance.
• Provide outreach, workshops, and student engagement initiatives.
