Farmers Insurance is seeking a Field Property Adjuster in the Austin, TX area. The role involves conducting virtual and on-site investigations to assess property damage, determine liability, and negotiate settlements.

You will use claims software, a company car, and a laptop to write estimates in a paperless environment. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, strong customer service and negotiation skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior general work experience with customer service and time management skills preferred.
• Strong written/verbal communication, critical thinking and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment while multi-tasking.
• Proficiency with smartphones and Microsoft Office applications.
• Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage.
• Outgoing personality suited to interacting with many people.
• Valid driver’s license and bondable.
• Background check may be required for company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Conduct both virtual and on-site investigations by visiting policyholders’ residences to assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate fair settlements.
• Use claims handling software, a company car, and a laptop to determine claims-related damage and write estimates in a paperless environment.
• Evaluate and report on potential subrogation opportunities.
• Reports incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to appropriate state and industry agencies.
• Perform duties independently, with work directly impacting management outcomes.
• Act as a company representative in public interactions, maintaining a professional demeanor consistent with management standards.
• Engage regularly with stakeholders, including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, investigators, attorneys, medical professionals.
• Use strong customer service skills to negotiate with policyholders to settle the claim.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Promotes safety at all times and complies with safety standards.
• CAT team may require travel 23 days per deployment; 1–3 deployments per year expected.
