Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Staff Scientist to join the environmental team in the Corpus Christi, TX area. This is a remote, field-based role supporting projects within roughly 50 miles of Corpus Christi, with about 75% field work and 25% remote reporting.

Ideal for an entry-level environmental professional who enjoys outdoor work and wants hands-on experience in stormwater compliance, SWPPP, wetlands, GIS, and technical reporting, while traveling to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field.
Entry-level candidates with strong academic or field background are welcome; stormwater experience not required.
Experience or coursework in environmental fieldwork, wetlands, SWPPP, stormwater, or environmental reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

Conduct stormwater inspections along transmission line projects and other environmental sites.
Hike and drive along transmission line corridors to inspect BMPs.
Verify BMPs are installed and functioning, preventing sediment runoff.
Document field observations and maintain accurate field records.
Prepare technical reports and project documentation from field data.
Support SWPPP development and maintenance.
Assist with wetlands delineations, fieldwork, and mapping when possible.
Use GIS/ArcGIS for mapping and project support as applicable.
Follow field procedures and maintain health and safety standards.
Travel as needed during training and cross-training.
