Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC. is seeking a Staff Scientist to join our environmental team in the Corpus Christi, Texas area. This remote, field-based role involves 75% field work and 25% remote reporting, supporting projects within roughly 50 miles of Corpus Christi.

You'll build experience in stormwater compliance, SWPPP, wetlands, GIS, and technical reporting while working with a broader Texas environmental team. Entry-level candidates with a strong field background are welcome.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field required.
• Strong writing, communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Exposure to environmental fieldwork, wetlands, SWPPP, stormwater, or reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct stormwater inspections along project corridors and sites.
• Hike and drive along transmission line corridors to inspect BMPs.
• Verify BMPs are installed and functioning to prevent sediment loss.
• Document field observations and maintain accurate records.
• Prepare technical reports based on data collected in the field.
• Support SWPPP development and maintenance.
• Assist with wetlands delineations and mapping using GIS where applicable.
• Follow field procedures and maintain high safety standards.
• Travel to training and for field work as needed.
