Job summary

Somewear Labs seeks a Mission Support Engineer – Unmanned to be a hands‑on, forward‑deployed technical expert who owns the success of unmanned deployments—from pre‑mission prep through execution and recovery.

You will isolate failures across vehicle, onboard compute, Horizon hardware, payloads, and communications, implementing safe field solutions and enabling operators to use capabilities confidently in the field.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on, engineering‑level experience supporting unmanned systems operations, evaluations, or field deployments.
• Experience configuring, operating, integrating, and troubleshooting unmanned systems and mission equipment.
• Working knowledge of unmanned system integration across hardware, software, payloads, networking, and RF communications.
• Troubleshooting power, cabling, connectors, pinouts, and data interfaces using a multimeter and field tools.
• Proficiency administering and troubleshooting Linux from the command line on embedded/edge compute systems.
• Ability to read code enough to support debugging with engineering teams.
• Travel willingness with a minimum of 25% travel.
• Relevant field, military, technical, or operational experience may substitute for an engineering degree.

Responsibilities

• Own technical execution of unmanned systems trials, evaluations, demonstrations, exercises, and deployments.
• Serve as on‑site technical owner for system readiness, configuration, integration, troubleshooting, and mission performance.
• Conduct pre‑mission checks, equipment preparation, software installation, readiness assessments, and post‑mission recovery and reviews.
• Translate mission requirements into practical unmanned system, compute, communications, and payload integration tasks.
• Drive issues to resolution in the field using structured troubleshooting and engineering judgment.
