Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking a Loss Mitigation FHA Claims Specialist to prepare, file, and follow up on FHA home retention claims in a timely and accurate manner, following investor/insurer guidelines. The role is remote from home, with a target pay range of $23.00 to $26.00 per hour.

The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of mortgage servicing default experience, FHA claims familiarity, and strong communication and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain detailed

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 1–2 years mortgage servicing default experience preferred.
• Previous FHA claims experience preferred.
• Understanding of loss mitigation and claims process.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file HUD claims timely and accurately.
• Follow up on claim proceeds daily.
• Perform loan-level reconciliation of claimed, paid, and outstanding loan amounts including escrow and advances.
• Provide posting instructions for claim proceeds within 24 hours.
• Ensure timely completion of all scheduled steps and document actions in the system.
• Input the completion date when actions occur and adjust dates as needed.
• Perform routine follow-up and keep supervisor informed of trends and delays.
• Document all servicing actions, delays, and phone conversations.
• Ensure all claim documents are imaged timely and HUD audit file is maintained.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
