Job summary

SMX is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to provide security engineering, compliance, and RMF support for cloud environments aligned with FedRAMP, DoD IL4–6. The role will advise partners navigating government security requirements while supporting authorization, audit readiness, and continuous monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, CS, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in cybersecurity, incl. 3+ years federal cloud security engineering or RMF/ISSO.
• Experience with FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53, and RMF controls and artifacts.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide cybersecurity engineering and compliance support for FedRAMP and DoD cloud environments.
• Advise partners and customers on federal security requirements and audit readiness.
• Develop, review, and maintain SSPs, POA&Ms, SARs, and related artifacts.
• Support authorization activities across FedRAMP RMF, including gap assessments.
• Leverage GRC platforms, APIs, scripts, and automation to streamline workflows.
• Collaborate with cloud engineering/DevOps to implement controls in AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments.
• Coordinate with owners, 3PAOs, and officials to address findings and outcomes.
• Support continuous monitoring, remediation tracking, and reporting.
• Evaluate tooling for automated validation and compliance reporting.
