Job summary

SMX is seeking a Federal Financial Business Analyst to join the client service delivery team. You will partner with government stakeholders to analyze financial data, improve processes, and deliver data-driven insights.

This remote role requires a Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one and offers opportunities to influence budgeting and planning across federal programs, with minimal travel and a focus on cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics and reporting, or related consulting roles.
• Experience with federal government financial data and processes.
• Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop deep understanding of client objectives, financial operations and priorities.
• Analyze and document business processes, workflows, requirements and decision-making needs.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify process improvements.
• Recommend process, technology and data solutions to boost efficiency and financial outcomes.
• Review policies and data structures to assess impacts on processes.
• Use BI and analytics tools to maximize value of client data assets.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions to improve reporting and performance.
• Collaborate across teams to align business, data and tech requirements.
• Create quality documentation across SDLC phases (RTM, FDD, design docs, training materials).
• Develop test plans and business use cases; manage test execution.
