Job summary

Management Solutions LLC is seeking an experienced Facility Safety Engineer to support DOE NNSA and other federal nuclear programs. This client-facing, part-time role focuses on safety basis documentation, hazard analyses, and interface across operations, engineering, and DOE representatives while working remotely with client sites as required.

The ideal candidate has eight+ years in DOE nuclear safety or facility safety, ABET-accredited engineering education, and an active DOE Q clearance.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in DOE nuclear safety, facility safety, safety analysis, or safety basis experience.
• Experience with Safety Basis documentation and related facility safety requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to interface across Operations, Engineering, Safety Analysis, and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Facility Safety Engineer for DOE Hazard Category 2 and 3 facilities, ensuring Safety Basis requirements are understood, implemented, and maintained.
• Develop, maintain, review, and support updates of Safety Basis and supporting documents, including DSAs, TSRs, hazard evaluation reports, safety analysis reports, SSC analyses, and system design descriptions.
• Interface with Operations, Engineering, project teams, Safety Analysis personnel, and DOE representatives regarding compliance with 10 CFR 830 Subpart B and applicable DOE orders and standards.
• Perform and support hazard evaluations and accident analyses for facility operations, modifications, new projects, and modernization efforts; ensure documented controls and safety functions.
• Coordinate and participate in design reviews for facility safety and evaluate safety-class/ safety-significant SSCs and design changes for consistency with safety requirements.
• Support USQ screenings, determinations, evaluations, and change-control activities, including review of designs, work packages, procedures, and proposed changes for impacts to the Safety Basis.
• Prepare clear, technically defensible documentation; participate in peer reviews; provide facility safety guidance to multidisciplinary teams; support timely resolution of safety issues.
