Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join a team responsible for the operational reliability of production systems running in AWS Commercial and AWS GovCloud environments. The role emphasizes deploying and managing OpenShift ROSA and related platforms, with collaboration across security and development teams.

The position offers remote work with an evening shift (3pm–11pm EST) and requires strong expertise in IaC, observability, incident response, and cloud-native deployments.

Qualifications

• US citizenship with ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• 8+ years in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or production systems.
• Experience with AWS Commercial and GovCloud; OpenShift/ROSA or similar.
• IaC with Terraform and Ansible; CI/CD with GitLab/Jenkins.
• Proficient in Linux and Windows Server administration.
• Familiarity with enterprise observability tools like Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain production infrastructure for reliability and performance.
• Monitor systems with SLIs/SLOs; improve detection and resolution.
• Define observability requirements with application teams and implement metrics/logs.
• Manage incidents, on-call response, RCA, and post-incident actions.
• Deliver deployments through pipelines with staging/production promotion.
• Lifecycle management: upgrades, patches, config changes, tech refreshes.
• Improve resilience with capacity planning, DR, backup, failover tests.
• Identify reliability risks and address technical debt with metrics.
• Automate operational tasks using an everything-as-code approach.
• Collaborate with platform engineers and apps teams to improve reliability.
