Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for an evening shift to support production systems in AWS Commercial and GovCloud. The role emphasizes OpenShift ROSA, IaC, and robust observability practices.

Remote work with EST hours, and a strong focus on reliability, incident response, and automation. Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in SRE/DevOps, strong IaC skills, and experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and federal/regulatory environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or production systems engineering.
• Hands-on experience operating in AWS Commercial and AWS GovCloud, including OpenShift (ROSA) or comparable Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Proficient with Terraform and Ansible/Ansible Tower for IaC.
• Experience with GitLab and Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Proficient in Linux and Windows Server administration.
• Experience with Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, and OpenTelemetry.
• Ownership of an SLI/SLO program, alerting, and noise reduction.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go.
• Experience in federal/regulatory environments (FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53).

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain production infrastructure services ensuring availability, reliability, and security.
• Monitor services with SLIs/SLOs, dashboards, and alerts; improve detection and resolution.
• Collaborate with application teams to define observability requirements and metrics.
• Manage production incidents, on-call, troubleshooting, and post-incident actions.
• Execute releases through pipelines with staging, production, validation, and rollback.
• Manage lifecycle: upgrades, patches, configuration changes, maintenance.
• Plan capacity, resilience testing, DR, backup, failover, recovery testing.
• Identify reliability risks and technical debt; prioritize improvements.
• Automate operational activities using code to improve consistency and efficiency.
• Collaborate to improve reliability and operability of the environment.
