Job summary

IES is seeking an Experienced Structured Cable Estimator to support sales and project staff by developing design and engineering solutions for opportunities. The Estimator keeps estimates accurate and up to date, and assists in day-to-day sales and project activities.

Key duties include writing scope of work, developing cost estimates from bid specs, attending site walks and pre-bid meetings, and coordinating with sales, project management, and operations to ensure bids reflect actual

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate/Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of one year of customer interface experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
• Must meet driving standards.
• Must be able to design, engineer, estimate and present written and graphic solutions using company tools.
• Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to read, write and present orally.

Responsibilities

• Provide complete project engineering, select materials, define basis for labor estimates and write scope of work.
• Attend site-walks and pre-bid meetings, track site visits and record conditions for design input.
• Act as liaison between sales, project management and operations during turnover and ensure price vs. actual costs align.
• Follow guidelines on vendor/product selection; work with vendors for best solution, price and lead times.
• Provide floor plan takeoffs and project applications per the company’s solutions book.
• Ensure all engineering work meets customer and company quality and safety standards.
• Attend training sessions on technical requirements and meet bid deadlines.
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
