Job summary

firsthand is hiring a Remote Triage Nurse (RN) to provide telephone and electronic triage support to firsthand individuals and staff. The role emphasizes care coordination, training, and clinical issue management, primarily during the day (8 hours, 8:30–4:30 PST) with possible nights or weekends.

The position requires an active RN license (NLC) and a BSN/ASN, with at least 3 years ER experience and a focus on populations affected by serious mental illness and behavioral health challenges.

Qualifications

• Active RN license through a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state and willingness to obtain licensure in non-compact states.
• BSN or ASN degree.
• 3+ years of ER experience.
• Experience with populations facing SMI, behavioral health conditions, and/or substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Triage and escalate inbound clinical issues via phone, triage appropriately and escalate emergencies.
• Collaborate with peer mental health workers, social workers, and APPs to address acute issues.
• Coordinate care with patients’ other providers for seamless health management.
• Develop and deliver training on basic medical topics for peers and social workers.
