Job summary

The University of Miami Information Technology & Systems Department is seeking a full-time Epic Solutions Architect (Laboratory). The incumbent will design, develop, and deploy clinical applications and technologies, focusing on Epic Beaker modules and integrating with other health IT components to deliver robust solutions.

They will lead projects, mentor analysts, and collaborate with lab leaders to optimize configuration, workflows, and data flows, while upholding governance and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare IT.
• Epic Beaker CP and AP certifications.
• Operational, project management, and organizational skills preferred.
• Data Innovation preferred.
• Familiarity with lab workflows, regulatory requirements, integration points with other Epic modules, and patient experiences preferred.
• Experience in anatomical pathology and lab practices preferred.
• Epic Beaker, AP & CP implementation experience preferred.
• Experience implementing digital pathology technologies (IMS) preferred.
• Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Architect laboratory systems from inception (Epic 3rd party systems).
• Collaborating with key stakeholders, end-users, and application team members to optimize the application’s configuration, function, and access
• Ensuring our system architecture documentation is kept up to date from changes and design
• Adherent to internal controls and reporting structure
• Participate in on-call rotations
• Participate in rounding events for customers to better understand workflows and issues
• Attend and participate in applicable committees
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team environment
• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence in service delivery
• Partner with all IT teams when developing streamlined services for customers including incident, requests, and projects.
• On occasion and depending on type of project, act as the project manager to help oversee tasks through to completion.
