Job summary

J.S. Held seeks a Technical Director to lead its Environmental Investigation & Remediation practice. You will drive technical excellence, project delivery, and business development, building strong client relationships and securing new engagements.

You will oversee complex projects, guide technical teams, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while advancing the firms objectives and growth in the environmental sector.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field (Masters preferred).
• Professional licensure (PE, PG, or equivalent) preferred.
• Significant experience in environmental investigation and remediation, including managing complex projects.
• Strong technical understanding of contaminant behavior, hydrogeology, and remediation methods.
• Proven ability to develop business and maintain strong client relationships (seller doer model).
• Experience leading teams and mentoring technical staff.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Ability to travel as needed for client meetings and field oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, direction, and execution of complex environmental investigation and remediation projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Provide expert guidance on contaminant fate and transport, geology, hydrogeology, and related sciences.
• Develop conceptual site models, evaluate remedial technologies, and prepare cost estimates.
• Oversee and review technical reports including investigations, FS, and regulatory docs.
• Ensure application of state and federal standards for regulatory closure or client outcomes.
• Establish and maintain internal health, safety, quality, and technical standards.
