Job summary

ADEQ is seeking an Environmental Hydrogeologist 2 to support the Groundwater Reclamation & Reuse unit in Phoenix. The role involves reviewing permit applications, drafting permits and summaries, and performing field sampling and data analysis as part of the groundwater programs.

Remote work is allowed and occasional in-office work is required; candidates should be prepared for 1–2 days in the field. A degree in geology with hydrogeology emphasis is preferred along with relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology (hydrogeology emphasis) or equivalent.
• Arizona driver’s license required.
• Geologist-in-training certification preferred through AZ board or reciprocal jurisdiction.
• 2 years of environmental experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review APP applications for water reclamation facilities and recycled water permits.
• Draft permits, executive summaries, and responsiveness summaries within licensing timeframes.
• Support groundwater monitoring and pesticides monitoring programs with field sampling.
• Conduct data analysis and publish groundwater basin reports.
